Each year the Truman Scholarship Foundation awards approximately 60 Truman Scholarships to college juniors devoted to a career in public service. The Truman Scholarship is the premier fellowship in the United States for those pursuing careers as public service leaders. The Truman Scholarship website reads that “Trumans are working in the West Wing, sitting on the US Supreme Court, and serving in federal and state legislatures. They are transforming nonprofits, delivering crucial services and organizing for change in local communities. And Truman Scholars are leaders in academia, research, and health care. They can be found in every branch of the Armed Services. And many make a difference beyond the borders of the United States.”
Recipients of the Truman Scholarship receive a $30,000 fellowship to apply to graduate study, as well as access to the Truman Scholarship alumni network.
Only college juniors are eligible to apply for the Truman Scholarship. We encourage freshmen and sophomores to attend this information session to learn what the Truman Scholarship application entails and how they can prepare to be competitive applicants.
Please RSVP by 11:59pm on Tuesday, April 28. You will receive Zoom meeting information on Wednesday, April 29.
Not able to attend an information session? Please make an appointment with a Fellowships Office staff member.
